Boston — August 8, 2008 — RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of video, data, and voice services to residential, business and commercial/carrier customers, announced today that it is inviting the public to enter a contest to win dinner with Red Sox Legend Jim Rice. Eight winners will be selected to join Rice for dinner at Johnnie's on the Side, a restaurant located on the side of Boston's historic West End and Bulfinch Triangle neighborhoods.
"Dinner with Red Sox Legend Jim Rice is our way of saying thank you to our RCN fans, who, like Red Sox fans, are energized about the upcoming fall baseball season. With more then 60 HD channels and plans to add more sports HD in the near future, RCN is hitting a home run for our customers," said Richard Wadman, General Manager of RCN Boston.
The winners will be allowed to bring one guest each to the dinner that will be held on September 16 when the Red Sox are playing an away game against rival Tamp Bay. All new RCN customers will be automatically entered into the contest, but non RCN customers are also eligible. They can send in a postcard with their contact information to:

Jim Rice spent his entire 16-year career - 1974 through 1989 - with the Boston Red Sox. A hard hitting left-fielder, Rice proved he was one of the best American League sluggers by receiving eight All-Star Selections and placing in the top five in the MVP balloting six times. Rice has proven to be one of the great Red Sox and baseball players of all time. He has remained closely involved with the Red Sox organization - holding several coaching and commentator positions for New England Sports Network - since ending his playing career in 1989.
